요약Digital Disruptions: Moire, Aliasing, and the Stroboscopic Effecttraces the medial relationship between perception, technical systems, and images through phenomena which are typically considered interferential artifacts: moire patterns, aliasing, and stroboscopic effects. Through an engagement with French philosopher of technology Gilbert Simondon's theory of images, it develops the concept of the "digital ante-image": a developmental schema through which digital technologies differentially modulate the aesthetic. Deploying a synthetic method which combines media philosophical inquiry with media archaeological histories of these interferences, the dissertation argues that the digital ante-image is a generic and infrastructural component of our lived interactions with digitality.
